Dermapen
For pigmentation and scarring.
Everything on this site is general information and does not replace an in-person consultation.
Dermapen is a microneedling device that makes thousands of very fine, controlled micro-punctures in the skin. Those minimal injuries trigger the body’s own repair response, which answers by producing new collagen. That is what improves texture, softens scarring and evens out tone.
Needle depth is adjusted to the area and to the reason for treating, and it is normally worked in several sessions weeks apart rather than in one.
At the consultation the doctor looks at your skin, your history and what you want to achieve, and that is where it gets decided whether this treatment is the right one, whether another one suits you better, or whether it is worth waiting. If what you are expecting is not realistic, she will tell you.
What it addresses
- Acne scarring
- Pigmentation and uneven tone
- Texture and open pores
Who it is for
It is one of the most requested treatments among people with acne marks or uneven texture who do not want anything injected that changes their features. It works on the face, the neck and other areas.
Not performed over active skin infections or open wounds in the area being treated.
What the appointment involves
01
Assessment and topical anaesthetic
The area is cleansed and a numbing cream is applied, which takes a few minutes to work so the procedure stays comfortable.
02
Microneedling
The doctor passes the device over the area in several directions, adjusting the depth. It feels like vibration and heat; with the anaesthetic it is tolerable.
03
Calm and protect
Calming products and sunscreen go on. The skin is left red, like mild sunburn, and that settles within hours.
Frequently asked questions
How many sessions will I need?
Show answer / Hide answer
Almost never just one. How many, and how far apart, depends on how marked the skin is, and that gets decided at the consultation.
Does it hurt?
Show answer / Hide answer
With the numbing cream most people describe vibration and warmth — uncomfortable but manageable. The redness afterwards is normal.
