Hyaluronic acid shot
To revitalize and hydrate your skin.
Everything on this site is general information and does not replace an in-person consultation.
The hyaluronic acid shot is a series of micro-injections of hyaluronic acid that is not cross-linked: thinner than what goes into a filler, and meant to hydrate the deeper tissues of the skin. It is not placed to add volume or change a feature, but so the skin holds water from within. The result is better-hydrated skin with more light to it and fine lines that read less.
It is not the same thing as a facial filler. A filler is cross-linked acid, denser, and meant to give structure; the shot is about skin quality, not shape.
At the consultation the doctor looks at your skin, your history and what you want to achieve, and that is where it gets decided whether this treatment is the right one, whether another one suits you better, or whether it is worth waiting. If what you are expecting is not realistic, she will tell you.
What it addresses
- Dehydrated or dull skin
- Fine surface lines
- Skin quality and texture
Who it is for
It tends to appeal to people whose skin feels dull or dry and who do not want a visible change to their features. It is done on the face, the neck and the backs of the hands, usually across several sessions weeks apart.
What the appointment involves
01
Assessment and topical anaesthetic
The area is cleansed and numbing cream applied. The doctor marks the points where she will inject.
02
Micro-injections
Using a very fine needle, small droplets of product are placed just under the surface of the skin, spread across the whole area.
03
Afterwards
Small bumps are left at each point and settle on their own over the following hours. Something calming and sunscreen go on.
Frequently asked questions
Will it change my face?
Show answer / Hide answer
No. This treatment adds no volume and alters no features: the point is skin that looks better hydrated, not different. If volume is what you are after, that is a different treatment and the doctor will say so.
How long does it last?
Show answer / Hide answer
It varies from person to person and depends how many sessions are done. The doctor gives you a realistic estimate at the consultation, along with how often it would be worth repeating.
